Joan, I was researching the Locust Point area of Baltimore and I had good luck at the Maryland State Archives and the Maryland Historical Society. The church records (Catholic) for Our Lady of Good Counsel and Holy Cross Church found in the Maryland State Archives were particularly helpful (and easy to read on micro-film).
