Hi Frankie: Just to add a little to your question and the responses. Church Home Hospital and Infirmary was a long established institution in Baltimore. I believe it was founded through the Episcopal Church so I doubt that Catholic nuns were singing there in the 1950s! Anyway, the hospital was housed in a building that long ago served as one of the early medical schools in Baltimore. The institution was also often cited as the place where Edgar Allen Poe was taken as he was dying. Although the hospital building was recently razed as part of a program between the city of Baltimore's Public Housing (Broadway) and Johns Hopkins, the oldest part of the structure is still standing and at least the last I heard still had some residents in its nursing home facility. This may have changed though. If you are trying to obtain records from Church Home, I have had a little experience, unfortunately ineffectual. My grandfather was hospitalized there when he died in the 1950s. A few years ago I wrote to Medical Records requesting a copy of his hospitalization. I submitted this on my physician letterhead thinking this would expedite the request. Unfortunately I was turned down flat. I later telephoned and was basically told no once again. Perhaps now that the hospital is defunct and its records are no doubt in storage somewhere, you might have better success. Hope some of this is helpful. Gary B.
