    3. Cathy, Marshall & Kathi, Here is what I have been told about the Savage Cemetery in Savage Maryland. The Savage Cemetery is a private, non-profit company. All the lots were sold long ago; the last one was sold for $50. People are still being buried there, however. I presume these are lot owners or their descendants. The Cemetery company has no income, and relies on volunteers to do the maintenance. The cemetery has never been associated with any church, so there are no church records. The adjacent old church building has been associated with 3 or more denominations over the years. Land adjacent on two sides to the cemetery is to be developed with townhouses./ There are about 20 pages of records of the "newer section" which tell only the lot number and who bought it. These records go from the 1970's (with a few 1960's) to the present. The records are said to look like a 3rd copy of the originals, and are hard to read. No one knows of a map of the lots, or what happened to earlier records./ The president of the company said he would look through the records to see if anyone by the name of Walker or Marks bought a lot. He promised to call me back in a few days. He was not aware of anything held by the Howard County Historical Society in Ellicott City./ Cathy, perhaps a brief family tree dating from the time up to 1962 might shed some light on the possible purchaser. There does not seem to be much hope in finding any unmarked graves in the cemetery./ I spoke to several "old-timers" here in Savage, but they could not remember anyone named Walker or Marks./ I will explore the possibility of transcribing the existing records./ John in Savage
