James Stanley was b. abt. 1777 in MD. He married Mary Jane Ranney (his 2nd wife) before 1812 but neither appears in any MD marriage records I've found so far. His grandson says James left Baltimore about 1823 with a 500 folks heading for the west. Anyone have any info about a group this size having been formed? I've found a lot of Stanleys in the Baltimore and MD records but no indication of who was related to whom. Any help would be appreciated. Mary
