THe record you describe at the LDS site sounds like a court clerks book (listed as main author) THis book would list the date of the marriage license was applied for (or picked up) I went to an old calendar and found out that the 3rd of May 1849 was a THursday and the 7th was a Monday. Its possible that the 7th was the day that the marriage was recorded at the clerks office if they got married on the weekend (courts are closed) Debbie
