    3. Lisa, I found John and Christina Reding in 1910, in Dist 12 of Baltimore County. John is at the bottom of Ancestry's image 36 in ED 46 of the 12th District. They lived at 313 S. ?? Street (can not read the name, but it was near the 3700 block of Gough St in Highlandtown. I suspect the current street name is different. )It says he was a physician, 85 years old (born 1825?), married what looks like 29 years, immigrated in what looks like 1827 (when he would have been 2 years old). The writing is hard to read, so you might check image at Heritage Quest to see if the image is clearer. I did not find them in 1900. I think the one listed in 1860 was a porter. The 1864 City Directory http://www.bcpl.net/~pely/1864/ lists John Reding's on Aliceanna and S Bond. They were porter and laborer. No physician. You've got a real puzzle with all of that conflicting information. John -----Original Message----- From: Lisa [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 01, 2006 2:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [BALTGEN-L] Reding and Zulauf I am looking for information on my Reding family and the Zulauf's who married into the Reding family. John Reding was born in Germany in 1832, parents unknown. He may have been in Maryland at the time of the 1860 census. 7th ward Balto. city has a listing for Dorada Monday 57, John Reading 27, Anna Reading 30, Frederick Reading 9, Caroline Reading 7, and Elizabeth Reading, 48. On the 1870 census, 2nd ward Balto. City Redding, John, 38 Redding, Anna, 38 Redding, Caroline, 17 (would be the same age as Caroline in 1860) Listed as invalid Redding, Barbara, 14 Redding, John, 9 Redding, August, 7 Redding, Elizabeth, 5 Redding, Rosa, 2 No Frederick listed 1880 census 1st ward Balto. City John is with second wife Christina, maiden name unknown. She was first married to Henry Zulauf. The only Reding children in the household were August, Elizabeth and Rosey. the Zulauf children were Henry, Margaret, Joseph, Annie and William. John and Christina had two sons together, Charles in 1880 and Louis in 1882. Nothing is known of John's first wife Anna or any of their children. There is a listing for a Rosa Reding buried from St. Paul's fifth German Reformed Church in Baltimore in 1889. I think this might be John's daughter Rosa. John died in 1917, Christina in 1926 and both are buried in unmarked graves in what is now Voshell's Memorial Garden. Any information on this family, especially the children of John's first family and his first wife would be greatly appreciated. 3. John, Thank you. I have John Reding on the 1870 through 1920 censuses and possibly the 1860 if I can prove that is him. I saw the immigration date of 1827 which has me baffled since his death certificate says he was born in 1832. As I go through all the census years he age is off by 10 or so years. One census year says he was born in MO, the others say Germany. To the best of my knowledge he never went to medical school and that is the only census that says he was a physician. I have been told by older family members he claimed to be a faith healer.
