Hi, Does anyone know if certain occupations were not expected to serve during the Civil War? As far as I can tell, my ancestors, who all worked in the copper smelting industry in Baltimore during the War, did not serve. Would the copper industry have been exempted because it was needed for the War effort? They would not have objected on religious grounds. Thanks for any info about this. Mona
