Hello, I found our ancestor, David W. DAVIS/DAVIES in the Naturalization Index book at the MD Archives. It said he declared his intention in Cumberland County, NJ, in 1845, and was granted citizenship in Baltimore in 1848. I got his papers from Baltimore while I was at the Archives and they contain the same info regarding NJ. I wrote to the Cumberland County Clerk with the info, and she says she has no record. Has anyone had a similar situation? If so, any ideas? She suggested I try a neighboring county in NJ, which I will do, but I think it is odd that the index and his original records in Baltimore would both say Cumberland County. Help! Thanks! Mona
