Jane, I'm fairly new to researching and visiting cemeteries but I was surprised at your comment on Mt. Olivet being "sad looking". I was there two years ago and thought it was in decent shape. Actually, I was quite pleased because right away I found all my family members that were buried in 3 different spots of the cemetery. I thought the cemetery was much more well maintained than I was expecting. I also felt quite safe there. My only problem with the list is that it is in alphabetical order and my relatives just don't get buried that way. I am trying to get them to put another list in plot diagram order but when you are volunteers time is difficult to find. I am a Lovely Lane Museum board member and a lifetime member of the historical society there. If you haven't visited the cemetery, it is very sad looking. Jane Thursby
In regards to Mt. Olivet cemetery, of which I am pretty much involved with, with 3 copy's of the Caretaker records, and numerous visits for digital pictures for folks, I do not think that this place is in bad shape at all, compared to a visit to Mt. Carmel cemetery, which is overrun with all sorts of vegetation and growth covering a good part of the stones. So to be appreciative of how Mt. Olivet appears, one needs to visit Mt. Carmel to get a shock, and then realize how nice Mt. Olivet looks. Tim R.
