I think both the Stansbury and Gorsuch families were around Baltimore that they had spread out across the whole area. I was specifically referring to the map at the following link that shows two Stansbury farms on the left side of Bear Creek and Gorsuch on the right side of Bear Creek. In fact, there is a Stansbury Park and Stansbury Road in that area today. http://www.rainfall.com/posters/mapscivilwar/8069.htm Robert Stansbury ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathi Jones-Hudson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 3:22 PM Subject: [BALTGEN-L] Gorsuch & Stansbury > Ed & Robert: > > I have some information about the Gorsuch & Stansbury > families of Baltimore Co. - hope it will help one or > both of you. > > Rev. Hi, That is pretty funny! And maybe there is a connection back someplace. I have only a very limited connection to the GORSUCHes. I will send you the info later this week--I just had to order a new Family Tree Maker CD, as my computer was in the shop last month and they had to take all the programs off it (not my files, though--those are backed up) and I can't find my installation disk, so I can't open my FTM files until I get the new disk. I do know that my GORSUCH connection is through my GILL side, if that rings any bells. I do not recognize the BASEMAN or CONAWAY names. Anyway---it will be a few days yet. Hi everyone, Just wanted to tell everyone who hasn't checked out the Baltimore City pages at USGenweb that they are chock full of information. We share so much info. on this mailing list and I really encourage anyone who has anything to contribute to send it to Gayle Triller, who is the coordinator of the Baltimore City pages. She posts marriage records, death records, obits, cemetery records and tons of other stuff as well. She'll give you credit for anything you contribute. You never know what information you might have that will tear down someone's brick wall! http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdcbalti/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tim, I had to do that also a couple of years ago. Fortunately my contractor had a long cable cord connection and he was able to hook it up to my original cable line so I was able to moved everything to my dining room. The withdrawal I would have suffered would have been more than I (or he) could have handled! Ed & Robert: I have some information about the Gorsuch & Stansbury families of Baltimore Co. - hope it will help one or both of you. Rev. John Gorsuch d: abt 1648 England - reportedly murdered during a religious dissention issue (??) married Ann LOVELACE in 1628 - she was born abt 1611 in England and died 1652 in Virginia. After Rev. John's death she came to VA with a few of her children including ... Charles Gorsuch b: abt 1642 married Sarah Cole 1677 died 1716 in BA Co. Their son ... Thomas b: 1678/1680 married Jane Ensor 1719 and died 1774 BA Co. Their son .. LOVELACE b: abt 1715 BA Co. married Sarah (NLN) and died in 1783. Daughter Sarah married Thomas BEASEMAN/BASEMAN before 1788 http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdannear/firstfam/gorsuch/d1654.htm The Cole/Coale's, Gorsuch's, Ensor's, Merryman's, Price's and other families who married into each other lines were all Quakers and some records that might be helpful to you are: Quaker records of northern Maryland : births, deaths, marriages, and abstracts from the minutes, 1716-1800 by Henry C Peden. Publisher: Westminster, Md. : Family Line Publications, 1994. OCLC: 28727887 Quaker records of southern Maryland : births, deaths, marriages, and abstracts from the minutes, 1658-1800 by Henry C Peden. Publisher: Westminster, Md. : Family Line Publications, 1992. OCLC: 25800238 QUAKER RECORDS OF BALTIMORE AND HARFORD COUNTIES, MARYLAND, 1801-1825 - Henry C. Peden, Jr. (2000), 2003 Also: Robert W. Barnes, Baltimore County Families, (Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. 1001 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, MD 21202 1989). I don't know much about the Stansbury's - it's always possible they were Quakers too. I do know this though, the above Gorsuch's, Cole/Coale's, etc. were not in what is now Dundalk but on the other side of the city in areas like Priceville (lots of Quakers settled there and the Gunpowder Meetinghouse is one of the oldest Quaker Meetings in the state/country). It's just something to consider. From this site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdannear/firstfam/stansbur/stansbur.htm much of the Stansbury information shows them clearly not living near what is now Dundalk but closer to Priceville, Cockeysville, etc., the northern/western areas of the county. Hope this is helpful to one or both of you. I have 3 Sarah Gorsuch related to my Stansbury relatives, but none seem to match your dates. The Gorsuch and Stansbury Families lived in the same area near what is now Dundalk, MD. KNOEDLER, MARTHA A. (my interest) Hi Mona, I noticed that you had Knoedler in your list of names and she seems fairly new (not 100 years ago) Is your Knoedler related to a Jerry that is a bodyman in either Westminster or Reisterstown? If so I have an article that I will scan and email to you. Its about his bodyshop. My husband was mentioned so I kept the magazine. Let me know Debbie
