    2. Jane's message reminds me of a similar episode from early in my genealogy days. I left a note on a tombstone in Loudon Park which had flowers displayed. This eventually led to contact with previously unknown cousins and sharing of photographs. I've also had the same situation with opposite results where I've left notes, time after time, with no response. Just a reminder to keep in mind. The thing that attracked Jane (and me) to the tombstone was the flowers that someone else had left. I often use this same trick. Place flowers (and a note) even when there is no sign of life (!) and you might just spark someone else's curiousity and make a connection. 3. Due to these mail list suggestions, a few weeks ago I asked the Pratt for information on one of my ancestors. They sent me several items back by e-mail, but said they would have to send other material by copying it and sending it regular mail because it was too long. Was I willing to pay the charges, which were minimal? Of course! I got some fabulous stuff. Then a week or two later I got an e-mail from the Pratt saying they had just run across something else. Did I want it? You bet I did! I got tons of information, hard facts and "setting the scene" information. All because I acted on the suggestions on this list and e-mailed the Pratt!!! What a great service they provide! 3. Hi, Go to the Pratt website http://www.pratt.lib.md.us/<http://www.pratt.lib.md.us/> and Ask a Librarian. Send them an email with your request. Mostly I have ordered obituaries, but have also received newspaper articles and copies of info from books. I imagine they would copy whatever you wanted to a point. 2. Jane I did the same thing. I had found the grave of my 3rd Great Garndfather. It had a military plaque. I knew who ever had placed it had done it within the last 20 years. Yet, the name of the person who had placed the plaque was not familiar, but I knew we had to be related. So, I left a note in a plastic bag and staked it down. There was no response for months. I replace the plastic note and refreshed it. Then one day came an email, hi I am the person you are looking for. I was estatic. Here was a 3rd cousin, Great Grandson of my 2nd GreatGrandmothers sister. It was a wonderful moment when we met. That lead to major breakthroughs in my family history. The great thing was I had things he did not and vise versa. We are still dolng research today. So, I wish for you the same joy I had. Don't give up keep the note fresh. I arrived about 9:15 am on a beautiful spring morning. Started doing the crossword puzzle and listening to NPR. About 10 am my heart almost stopped when a car drove right up and parked right in front of me. I almost jumped out of the car but was afraid that I would scare the two elderly people. They started up the correct walk way and I forced myself to stay calm. But, they went to a different grave and placed flowers and prayed. Bummer, bummer, bummer. I stayed until after 2pm waiting and waiting. Finished the puzzle and the two Sudokos and starting working on my needlepoint. I got to listen to the Prairie Home Companion and the Two Car Guys and several interesting discussions. Nary a car came close. Not many cars even came into the cemetery. It is in a “bad” part of town but the cemetery is nice. But I know the note is still there and I will check back later in the week to see if flowers arrive and the note disappears. Maybe they are waiting for Easter or Mother’s Day this year. I received many emails wishing me luck and one really good idea that I actually thought of when I was out there too. (Great minds think alike) I looked around at all the other stones to see if anyone had flowers like the ones I found Saturday. No one did so that gives me hope that the flowers placed there were specifically for the Fischer and not an adopted grave. I will keep you posted. I am determined. I made notes some time back from the book, a copy of which I used at the library, and am now doing the laborious work of documenting all the data I obtained from it. Thanks.

    3. Hi, I have the book and looking at it, the only thing I can figure you are referring to is the date and page number the obit or announcement appeared in the Sun. So, 1/9/47-2 would mean the item was on page 2 of the Jan. 9, 1847 Sun. Hope this helps.
