Sorry, List, AOL is bouncing MSN mail again. ----- Original Message ----- From: mona everett<mailto:cowpost@msn.com> To: PatMrshll<mailto:PatMrshll@aol.com> Sent: Thursday, May 11, 2006 2:50 PM Subject: Thomas and Maggie Hi, I got the marriage notice today from the library for Thomas Edwards and Maggie McCleary. I will put it in the mail tomorrow. Here is what it says: EDWARDS-McCLEARY--On April 14 (I think it is 14--could be 11) at St. Andrew's Church, by the Rev. Wm. Rawlins Pickman, THOMAS EDWARDS, of London, to MAGGIE McCLEARY, of this city. I have asked for a look up to find the denomination. Hope all is well there--it is rainy, windy and quite cold (40sF) here today. Can you please email me the correct spelling of you last name? Thanks, Mona
Hello, Could someone please look and see which church (denomination) Rev. William Rawlins Pickman was at in 1875? According to the marriage notice I have it was St. Andrew's, but I don't know the denomination or if it is still in existence today, or where the records might be. There a a few St. Andrew's in Baltimore now. Thanks! Mona
http://www.worshiphere.org/MD/Baltimore.htm#S<http://www.worshiphere.org/MD/Baltimore.htm#S> This is a page that lists all (maybe most) of the churches in Baltimore. It looks as if the home page will let you search all over the US. Mona--If the link has 2 "http"s in it, just use the first half. For some reason the links get doubled when I send them to mailing lists.

It seems to be impossible to get a copy of an application for a Social Security record if the applicant did not earn enough credits to collect social security. My father had a number, but when I wrote for his application I was told that he did not have a number. A phone call to the office was really frustrating. While I held his card in my hand I was told that he did not have a social security number. I read the number to the person to whom I was talking. She very nastily told me that the card must be an illegal one and asked if my father was an alien. I explained that he was born in Maryland as were his ancestors since at least the early 1700's. She was not impressed and told me again that the card did not exist. I visited the local Social Security office to find out what was going on. My father was in business for himself and did not pay in enough to collect Social Security, therefore the government did not even know that he was dead. If living, he would have been age 112. I was then informed that if he did not collect his social security there was no way I could get a record of his application. Government sometimes is not very smart. Hi, again, That is a great suggestion, but in my case it won't help. All I need is his death date--I have everything else. And his death date wouldn't be on a siblings SSN app. But, I'll keep that suggestion in mind for other ancestors. Thanks! Hi, He never had a Social Security Number, so no use in asking for his application--he never applied for one, as he didn't need one. Thanks for writing, though. They couldn't find the fax. I re-faxed it. Waited; called again. Called again yesterday and re-faxed it and immediately called to tell the lady (I am now on a first name basis there) that it had been faxed. I don't know what the problem is--all she could tell me was that without a Social Security number, they can't track requests. Hello, Some months ago, I had asked about getting the employment records for my great-uncle and was happy to receive several emails telling of others' success. Well...... They told me that with the info I sent they should be able to find his records (name, birthdate and place, place of employment, and dates employed and I added his wife's name, too). They had no explanation as to why I hadn't received ANYTHING back--even a confirmation letter. I am getting frustrated, especially since I had heard from others how great the service was and how many records they got back. Thanks! Mona--guess I am just venting
