Hi, I had some old negatives of my mothers developed,Needless to say I only recognize one person out of all the pictures and that is my grandfather Charles Lingner. He was from Leadenhall Rd in Baltimore City Maryland. He married Margaret Clendaniel from Kent Island in Queen Anne's Co..Well to get to the point. The pictures look like they were taken on the eastern shore, so I sent copies to my mothers cousin he didn't recognize anyone but my grandfather and he passed them around to the old timers.Nothing.But they did say the people with my grandfather are most likely from the city from the way they were dressed in suits. So Here is rthe web site if anyone wants to take a look and see if any of their family members are included. There are 2 pages of pictures,a few on each page.Didn't want to make it load to slow. <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lynnsgen/photos.html">http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lynnsgen/photos.html</A> Thanks Lynn http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lynnsgen/index.html http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lynnsgen/queenanne.html
I would like to get in touch with anyone who is interested in any of the following families that lived in Baltimore during the mid and/or late 1800s. GRAHAM CORRIGAN BRADY I will, of course, be happy to share the information I have. Jerry Gary Walnut Creek, CA
Has anyone heard the term "UNION LEGION". This term is used for an ancestor Henry KOEHLERSCHMIDT in his death records. He is listed under the cemetery's records with this term. They have him in there Civil War books, but I can not find him in any Civil War databases. Can anyone shed some light on this? Does anyone see Henry in any of their Civil War Databases? i believe your george is related but have not found the tie , yet. i will hopefully be able to run down all the starr people of baltimore when i get to the National archives in D.C. and the hall of Records at Annapolis. The answers must lie in the land records along with wills and port records and court records. regards, jason ----- Original Message ----- From: WVALindaD@aol.com Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 10:48 AM To: BALTGEN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BALTGEN-L] GEORGE W. I took a 1905 map of Baltimore I found on the web and overlaid the enumeration districts for the 1900 Census for the Canton area (mostly the area west and south of Patterson Park). It covers enumeration districts 53 through 82. If you would like me to e-mail you a copy, let me know. It will be about a 110K download. I'm trying to prove or disprove a possible family connection and could use some advice on where to look next. My 3G grandparents were Christian Haas and Anna Eva Weigand who came to Baltimore from Bavaria, along with their children, in several separate groups, in the early 1850s. Among the children were four sons, Martin, Conrad, Franz and Johann Adam. (There were also several daughters.) I have pretty solid information on Martin, Conrad and Franz (who went by Frank in the US). My trouble concerns Johann Adam. I've found a George Haas that I believe is Johann Adam but, I don't know how to prove it. Johann Adam's birth record in Bavaria puts his birthdate as 18 Feb 1843. In 1851, Anna Eva arrived in Baltimore with Franz and Adam. Their ages match their birthdates fairly well. In the 1860 Census, Christian and Anna Eva have two sons living with them, Frank and George. Their ages match those of Franz and Johann Adam. In the 1870 Census, I have a George Houst (age 28, from Sweden(?)), with wife Ricca (age 25, from Bavaria) and children Louisa, Frank and Andrew, living next door to Martin Hesse (from Hanover) & family. I've pretty firmly established that Martin Hesse is actually Martin Haas (from Bavaria, not Hanover), son of Christian and Anna Eva. I have the death certificate for a George Haas, died 15 Sep 1936. He is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, in the plot next to Conrad Haas. Buried with him is his wife, Louisa F Haas (1847-1889). According to his death certificate, George's birthdate was 17 Feb 1843, one day off from Johann Adam's and he was born in Germany. The space for his father's name is left blank, while the mother's name is filled in with Louisa Horstmann (her birthplace his given as Germany). His wife's name is given as Louisa. I have information on several of George's children. On all of their DC's, the father is filled in as George Haas and the mother as unknown. Except for one, Henry Haas (1874-1914). Henry's DC has his father as George Haas and his mother as Fredericka unknown. What I'd like to believe is: Johann Adam came to the US with his mother, changed his name to George and, married Louisa Fredericka Horstmann, died in 1936 and was buried in Mount Carmel. Would you consider the above evidence sufficient to draw that conclusion? Or, if not, what would you look for next? Researching: APPEL, BOROWSKI, CERNOHORSKY, DEMBOWCZYK, HAAS, PIETROWIAK, ZARAS

Though I suppose it is possible that the street was extended at some time. Also, Lancaster and Fait both exist today and both existed in 1900.
