Hi Tim, Taking you up on your generous offer, I would appreciate lookups for the following names:CRATEN, WALSTRUM, SWAIN, Catholics in Baltimore in the 19th century. Earliest info I have are wedding notices from the Baltimore Sun for Peter Walstrum and Mary Ann Louisa Craten at the Cathedral Bacilca, May 15,1815, and Jarrett Swain and Mary Ann Louisa Walstrum by Rev. Dr. Damphoux Sept. 4, 1838. In your St. Patrick's listing you had the death of "Infant son of Peter Walstrum" in the 1822 book. I have listings from Baltimore City Directories for most years. Burials from St.Patricks Roman Catholic Church; (IRISH) This parish was established in Fells Point in 1790. Near the Foot of Broadway, this parish served all Irish Immigrants in the area for many years. If your ancesters were Irish, this would be the natural Church to start your research. As POLISH immigrants came to Baltimore in the 1870's, they too began to worship here. The first national Polish parish would not be established until 1879. There are no records available prior to 1808. The Internment records are sketchy until 1875. Would you check for Patrick Kelly and Kate Barrett. I know this family attended this church and their children were baptised there. Thanks, LIZ
Mary Ellen, and others, This St. Josephs Church, Lee Street, Baltimore, was IRISH; This parish was established in 1839 for the Irish living West of Light Street and South of Baltimore Street, and in South Baltimore. The parish closed in 1962. Interment records are sketchy until 1906. Thereby making it difficult to read the actual photocopied records. Also, I have a much clearer meaning of the Latin used in the Matrimonial records. I do believe I can segregate who is what now, much more clearly. If you have time, I am looking for any records (marriage or otherwise) the Deaver line in Maryland. They were mainly in the Anne Arundel, Cecil, and Harford Counties area starting in 1657 through the mid 1770s. My direct ancestors from MD would have been Richard Deaver, Gilbert Deaver, William Deaver, and Richard Deaver. They married Grace Fitzmorris (Scotland), Elizabeth Peacock (MD), Susannah Birchfield (MD), and Mary Singleton (VA). I hope to make it up north to MD and VA this fall for research myself. Thanks! Hello, List! Does anyone out there know where I might find the records of the Maryland Avenue Presbyterian Church? In 1945, the church was located at the corner of Maryland Avenue and 25th Street. According to a September 1945 letter to her inviting her to participate in the church's 50th anniversary celebration, my grandmother, Florine Brady DuVAL, united with that church on 1 April 1894. Thanks. John Researching: DUVAL(L) (Baltimore, MD); CORNELL (PA>MD); BRADY (VA>MD); DASHIELL, WHITE, SIMPKINS, WALLACE (Eastern Shore, MD); PIERCE (NY>VA); HART (England>PA); MASON, ADAMS (VA); MILLS, DAY (Montgomery Co., MD); STIMMEL (Germany>MD>PA); KELLER (Germany>NY); MARTIN, SNYDER (Clearfield Co., PA); SAGAR, WHEELER, BENTLEY (NY)
Hi: On the Otterbein Records, do you have anything on Herman Miller, Caroline Weinel Miller, John Weinel and/or Mary Weinel? Would greatly appreciate any info. Thank you. Shirley Akins Brown
Sorry I have to sign off for awhile. Keep digging Cindy Bailey
Just a reminder: the Old Otterbein in Hampden is different than the Old Otterbein next to the Convention Center. The one next to the Convention Center has been there since 1785. It's records were published by Family Line (now Willow Bend) several years ago.
Otterbein Memorial Church: the records I have are from 1871-1893 at Union Avenue. Then from Feb. 19. 1893 to Sept. 1958. On Roland Avenue and 38th Street. In Hampden. (zip now 21211) I don't know if it existed prior to those dates. I don't live in Maryland. I only have about 20 pages. Did not find: Krauk, Oltman and Ebbinhausen or Elijah Stansbury or Elizabeth Gorsuch. Sorry Arlene
