Abel's lot. > >Shirley Shirley, I have some interest in the Harris's Trust / Ables Lot / Betsy's Delight land tracts. My Ancestor Andrew Carman died with a piece of Betsy's Delight which was the combination of Ables Lot, Harris's Trust and another lot ( I'm not positive about the name of the other lot at this time- Im away from my normal computer.) I have the land records from the Bosleys -1700's and I THINK I tracked the land owners to a current owner living in a very old house next to a very old barn- hand made nails in the buildings-. Of course the lots have been sold off and such, but I am missing the land transfer stating Andrew Carman purchased a part of Betsy's delight. I am not sure Andrews purchase may have been part of Ables / Harris and originally listed as such, or was the land transfered / sold / given to him as a tract from Betsys delight. That is my burning question. I think I have transcribed the land deeds in question. Let me know if I can help out. 1. [BALTGEN-L] Private Cemetery?
    2. On the west side of Harford Road, just north of 695, is Duncan Lane. I am trying to locate the grave of Joseph Duncan (my g-grandfather) whose family owned the property c. 1850 and am told there once was a private cemetery there. Do any of you have any information about that? I sure would appreciate it as I live in Atlanta and unable to travel because of a disability.

    1. [BALTGEN-L] Savage Cemetery
    2. John G Hengen
    3. Cathy, Marshall & Kathi, Here is what I have been told about the Savage Cemetery in Savage Maryland. The Savage Cemetery is a private, non-profit company. All the lots were sold long ago; the last one was sold for $50. People are still being buried there, however. I presume these are lot owners or their descendants. The Cemetery company has no income, and relies on volunteers to do the maintenance. The cemetery has never been associated with any church, so there are no church records. The adjacent old church building has been associated with 3 or more denominations over the years. Land adjacent on two sides to the cemetery is to be developed with townhouses./ There are about 20 pages of records of the "newer section" which tell only the lot number and who bought it. These records go from the 1970's (with a few 1960's) to the present. The records are said to look like a 3rd copy of the originals, and are hard to read. No one knows of a map of the lots, or what happened to earlier records./ The president of the company said he would look through the records to see if anyone by the name of Walker or Marks bought a lot. He promised to call me back in a few days. He was not aware of anything held by the Howard County Historical Society in Ellicott City./ Cathy, perhaps a brief family tree dating from the time up to 1962 might shed some light on the possible purchaser. There does not seem to be much hope in finding any unmarked graves in the cemetery./ I spoke to several "old-timers" here in Savage, but they could not remember anyone named Walker or Marks./ I will explore the possibility of transcribing the existing records./ John in Savage

    2. Christopher T. Smithson
    3. To - All with Early Colonial Harford Co Ancestors pre 1810 I am currently compiling data and documentation for a future publication. Entitled "Genealogies of Early Harford County Families". This publication will cover the years of 1760 thru 1810 which is starting where Robert Barnes left off with his book "Baltimore County Families 1659-1759". You are all welcome to submit any data but documentation needs to be included with your submission. These publication is to help those with the gap between 1776 to 1850 which were the only census that listed all people living in the household. This is one of the hardest areas to do research. The reason to bring the families up to 1810 is for mention of those families that migrated westward and down south and up north. Some of the family stayed here in Harford County and some disappeared totally. Please submit data by snail mail with your sources. Thanks, Christopher T.
