Over the weekend I visited my brother in MD - he took me to Baltimore to several cemeteries, one of which he had noted as "Westwood". It was on Edmondson Avenue. Is there a Westwood Cemetery? I found a "Western" Cemetery. Are there other cemeteries on Edmondson Avenue beginning with "West"? Thanks! Mary
Thank you so much. Shirley

Can anyone tell me what ward or census district the address 5219 Florence Avenue would have been in when the 1910 census was taken? Florence Ave.is west of Park Heights Avenue, East of Reisterstown Rd and runs north and south between Hayward Avenue and Belvedere Avenue. (It is closer to Park Heights than to Reisterstown Rd.) Thanks for any help with this. Nancy

Just seeing if this goes through.
Hoping to find someone that has knowledge of a marriage between a female SCHAEFER and an UNCLEBACH(k), or a means of looking up marriages in Baltimore. The SCHAEFER given name could be Catharine, Anne, Margaret or Teresa. I have no idea of the given name for the male UNCLEBACH. In my great, great grandmother's will, she left a sum of money to her niece and namesake, Mary Cecilia UNCLEBACH, so I am assuming that one of her sister's listed above married an UNCLEBACH. The will was written in 1915, so I would think that the marriage was somewhere after 1875 and before 1915. By the time the estate was settled in 1938, Mary Cecilia UNCLEBACH was Mary Cecilia AHL. Just had my question answered, thanks so much. ...Kim Danielsen
I am stuck, and thought I'd turn to all you knowledgeable people for advice. I had 3 listings from the 1880 census index [MD] that I wished to look up on ancestry.com. Although I did not have the Enumeration District for any of them, I did manage to find 2 on ancestry's 1880 census pages. Naturally the 3rd one, whom I cannot locate, may be my gr-grandmother whom I'm trying to track down, with great difficulty I might add! One of the listings was for Annie McKenny, possible sister of my gr-grandmother. Her index listing showed "12 Ward Precinct 4 p. 114D; Roll T9-0501" [Baltimore]. The other, "my" Minnie McKenny, only showed "Roll T9-0501, p. 394D" [Baltimore]. She was living w/ the Patten family. Although I again did not have the ED, I thought since her listing was on the same roll as Annie's, I'd be able to move from ED to ED [on ancestry] until I found the right page number. Well, when I FINALLY got to the right page number, she wasn't there---and I was now on Roll 502 [not 501]. I did backtrack a bit, and fiddled with the URL to extend the ending image # of that Roll...to no avail. [When I got to where I thought I should be, there was a box saying ancestry did not have those images available.] Does anyone know if ancestry is missing some pages from Roll 501, or if it moves on to a completely different [out of order] ED? Any advice as to how I can find that census page? All I really want to know is her pob and her parents' pob---which of course is not shown on the index. <sigh> Thanks in advance for your help. ...Kim Danielsen Yuma, AZ
Church Home and Hospital was, in it's last days, primarily a nursing home and definitely Catholic.
Hi Mae: Didn't know that! My office is at Mercy, where even though the Catholic nuns are fewer in number each year, there are still a few around. Of course, they don't exactly look the same as they did years ago. By the way, as previously mentioned, not all of Church Home has been razed, so to answer your question about the memorial windows, it might just depend on where they were. Why not inquire at the remaining institution? I bet that the windows are either in storage, were moved or sold. Doubt that they'd just be tossed ... they're much too collectible/valuable these days. Just like in the Lutheran Church - there are sisters until they marry and they are no longer sisters.
