Hi, You were not asking for information about Katherine R. Gosman, but since it is a surname that I research in Baltimore I thought I would touch base with you. I have a record of a Katharine Gossman b. 22 June 1870 and baptized 26 Jul 1870 at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in South Baltimore. Would this be the same person that you have mentioned? I would enjoy hearing from you. Nancy Weaver Knight RAMOSCLANN@aol.com wrote: > > Hi Everyone, > > I'm new to this list. I'm searching for Samuel N. Riston (1871-1954), md. > Katherine R. I found an ancestor of mine online and the data says he was married in "Harford, Maryland". Does that mean Harford Co. or is there a town named Harford. Thanks for any input.
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this list. I'm searching for Samuel N. Riston (1871-1954), md. Katherine R. Gosman (1901 NJ) and had the following children: Clarence (1902), Valma (1904), Charles (1905), Walter (1910), and Earl (1912). All were born in Baltimore. According to the 1920 Census (he's listed as Saul Ruston on Ancestry's index) he and both of his parents were born in MD. I have not found him on any previous census. I searched through the BALTGEN-L archives and found several different (at least I think they are different) lines of Ristons. I'm hoping we fit in there somewhere. My Grandfather Samuel N. was born 1871 and was left an orphan-at what age I don't know. I have a picture of his father taken in a Baltimore studio. Also a picture of his mother which on the back says: "Mary Sinclair, mother of S. N. Riston. He may have had a sister Jeannie. He also had two cousins, Katie and Cora Riston - another picture (1949) is my source which includes my dad and myself and states 3rd Cousins" I don't know 3rd cousins to whom. Does anyone know where I can find information on Orphan's Court Records? Thank-you, Elberta Riston Ramos
There are several programs that 'clean' or privitize gedcom's. I've used GedPrivy and it works well, though a bit labor-intensive. With most of them, you create your gedcom, run the program and save the results as a new and separate gedcom, which is probably what you should do when using any program - have two separate files; one private and one not. I had the same thing happen in my Family Orgins program. But, thank goodness, I have a habit of using different programs and files and I Gedcom between them. Thus, all I have to do is Gedcom back. What I don't like is that by putting "Living" in the space for the name, for some reason, it disconnected the entry from the parents, thus fouling up my pedigree chart. Now when I open up the program, all it shows is the entry for "Living" and there is no connection to my parents, who are dead! There was a connection when I changed my name and my brother and all his children's names to "Living" but there's nothing there now. We 're just a bunch of disconnected individuals. Any suggestions? >From the Balto. Sun. I just sent what I think are the last ones folks requested via email this morning. If I missed you, please email me again, however I will be gone until the end of Oct. I apologize for the slowness in getting these out--I had no idea how many folks would want them. I also had at least 2 folks say they would post all of the obits on a webpage if I got them together. I will do that when I get back home. If those folks want to email me their street addresses, I will just xerox the obits I have and mail them. Thanks! Hope they help someone! Mona
Strange question I came up with two Mollie Brown's on the 1870 census the occupation listed for one is Lady of Pleasure. What is that? I've never seen that listed as an occupation. Stacey C. Garrison
Hello Everyone, I have returned from a very fun vacation, and am getting ready to hit the old sources again to search out information for whomever. However, as I was away, my Son-in-Law re-configured the whole computer, and has not yet replaced some of the search options that I use, especially Family Tree Maker, which I use to do most of my CD's. He's put a password on the option to download soft- wear, so I have to wait for him to reload stuff before I can go hog wild helping out folks. I shall be patient, as he does all this stuff for me at no charge, even to put programs on that otherwise can cost me lots of dough, so I shall not complain. So those of you who have sent me questions, I will be getting back to you as soon as I find all those answers for your questions. Thanks Everyone, Tim Robinson
Yes, there is a web site for Enoch Pratt. Ask Google to give you the URL. You can also have Microsoft search for a web site in the find on the Internet section. Just ask for Enoch Pratt Baltimore. Go the section that says, "Ask the librarian". Pratt will give you obituaries out of local papers if you have the date of death. You don't have to be exact but it helps. -----Original Message----- From: Lyneve Cox [mailto:Lyneve.Cox@us.usana.com] Sent: Monday, October 07, 2002 9:59 AM To: BALTGEN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [BALTGEN-L] stansbury research is there a website that can be searched for the Enoch Pratt? MJ, Where on FTM did you post your question? If you click on File, Open, is there more then one file where ever you saved your files? Or, do you have more than one copy of that file, perhaps a different filename, on your computer? MJ You should post your request on a Family Tree Maker email list or their GenForum, not here. However, when you Privatized your file, did you create a New file?
