    1. Church for Rev. Geo. C.M. Roberts???
    2. mona everett
    3. Hello! I MAY have a break in a brickwall! I need to know which church Rev. Dr. George C. M. Roberts was associated with in Feb. 1848. I assume it was a Methodist church, as he is listed as performing a marriage in "Methodist Records of Baltimore City, Maryland, Vol 3 1840-1850 (East City Station)", by Henry C. Peden. I only have a few xeroxed pages of the book (courtesy of the Enoch Pratt Library), so if the book tells which church the various ministers were at, I don't have that info. Also, if anyone knows where to find the records of this church, I would greatly appreciate that bit of info, too! Thanks! Mona

    3. Have many records for Greenmount Cemetery been transcribed that anyone knows of? I am looking for T[h]eresa Spence who died April, 1875 and [per her death certif.]was buried there. I am hoping to find her buried w/ other family members, especially her unknown husband who was evidently deceased before 1850. Has anyone dealt w/ Greenmount insofar as requesting this type of info? Thanks for any advice, ...Kim Danielsen

    3. It was originally AllTel, AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Nextel, Sprint PCS, and T-Mobile, but due to complaints, mainly caused by this hoax email circulating, Sprint, Nextel, and AT&T have all now pulled out leaving only AllTel and Cingular. This means that many of us who DID want to participate will no longer be able to. It was always an Opt-In program. Anyone not formally requesting they be included would not have been. It would haveneverbeen available to telemarketers. This is one more good example of people passing around hoax emails without checking them out and thereby causing problems to others, not to mention the millions in losses companies had already spent developing it. Other places where it can be checked out are http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp Or directly from the Federal Government at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2005/04/dnc.htm Now that we know the truth, what has it got to do with Baltimore Genealogy? 3. not exactly true... see below: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/business/a/cell_directory.htm "Comments: While it's true that the major wireless phone providers (Verizon excepted) have announced their intention to establish a 411 directory of customers' cell phone numbers beginning in 2006, it is not true that they plan to "publish" said directory for any and all to read. Participating companies say the numbers will be made available only with customer consent, and only via telephone to users who dial directory assistance and pay a fee. The companies swear the numbers will never be accessible to telemarketers. In fact, per FCC regulations, telemarketers are already prohibited from calling cell phone numbers using automated dialers, which are standard in the industry. Not everyone is convinced that consumers' privacy will be adequately shielded, however, as evidenced by a privacy protection bill already introduced in Congress which would modify the plan to allow 411 callers to be directly connected to requested parties without the latter's phone numbers being given out. Lawmakers have yet to act on the legislation. In any case, the Federal Trade Commission does allow cell phone users to add their numbers to the National Do Not Call Registry — the same one already in force for landlines — either on the Web or by calling 1-888-382-1222. 3. HI, Probably Tickner? Some of my family used them, too. Hard to locate records, but I will check at the Archives on my next visit. I am in Wisconsin, so not sure when I can get there--but I plan on it sometime in 2006. 3. While at the Baltimore County Genealogical Society, I looked through the book "Three Hundred Years of Maryland Gambrills" by Mary Alice Moore Bowerman, copyrighted 1973. No George Gambrills were listed, but I did find 43 Moores and 4 of them were named George. I thought if I searched the Baltimore City Directories for years earlier than the 1902, I could find a George Gambrill who could possibly be the father or grandfather of the individual you are searching for. Here is what I found: 1861 No George Gambrills 1870 Gambrill Geo. T. (G. & Williar) Eutaw House 1880 Gambrill Geo. T. (Trail & G.) 218 n Carey 1890 Gambrill Geo. T. (J. H. The Enoch Pratt Library covers a much greater range of years. My connection to the Gambrill family is through my maternal great-grandmother, Ella Gambrill, (1854-1923). 3. Hi Mona, I also found that some of my families used a mortuary that was directly across the street from Greenmount Cemetery. I believe the name began with a T, but simply cannot remember it. The mortuary is closed but the records are at the Maryland Historical Society. I am sure you could search there if you have a date. My understanding is that the records are not in good order. I was told that I could request a search for $30.00 an hour which I might not mind if the records were in order. But it could take several hours for a search and nothing found. My budget won't fit that. If I could get up there, I would undertake a search myself, but although I live on the Eastern Shore, my husband has a bridge problem and I do not leave him to go up there myself.
