The patriarch of the Baker clan in this area was Basil Henry Baker, Sr. He is buried here along with some of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Basil fathered some 14 children with two wives over a 34 year period. One of his sons, Benjamin Franklin Baker served with Terry's Texas Rangers in the War Between the States; sadly, Benjamin is apparently not buried in Baker Cemetery. Another son, Erasmus McGruder Baker, was a Houston Police officer.
