My ggf, known to me as ISAAC NEWTON BAKER from Illinois, b. about 1838, is identified as "alias DICKENS" in an application for pension made by my ggm in Arkansas. He supposedly moved to Arkansas after the war from Jefferson Co., Illinois. The records of the unit noted on the application lists an ISAAC N. DICKINS but no BAKER. The 1860 census from the county where the unit was formed has an ISAAC DICKINS and no other DICKENS noted. An ISAAC DICKINS is found in the 1850 census in a LASATER home. Your link of BAKERs to DICKENS suggests he may have been a DICKENS and changed his name to BAKER. I would appreciate any comments. Thank you, Vance Wiley
