"Ngaire Paterson" <ngairep@wave.co.nz> Subject: [Baker-Roots] my brick wall Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2003 15:54:58 +1200 My brick wall is my gt grandfather JOHN BAKER, born about 1794 somewhere in Ireland. He arrived in New Zealand in about 1828, and we know nothing of his 'previous' life. He may have come from County Cork. What we do know is that he was a Catholic, and he married and started our branch of the Baker family in New Zealand, of which there are now many hundreds of descendants. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Are you aware of it that Ireland and New Zealand have family history centers all over and by going though your local family history center, you will be able to speak/communicate with another family history center and human being who can assist you with what information they have available.
