On January 20, 1835 he married Elizabeth Smith, born Feb. 14, 1819, in Newark, Licking Co., Ohio. They had several children and Elizabeth died in 1845. Charles remarried and moved to Indiana and then on to Illinois. In his latter years he seemed to go between two of his sons - one in Eldora, Iowa and the other in Atchison Co., Mo.
