My Minot Emerson Baker was born around 1828/9 in Jefferson County, NY (near Watertown) He had a brother I think named Chauncy as best we can read census. He was born around 1831 in NY. Emerson Baker was their father (born in Sullivan,CheshireCo. NH (near Keene) in 1799 and Emerson's father was Jonathan Holt (1749-1834) of Topsfield/Andover, Essex Co, MA. that moved to Sullivan in 1777. Emerson's mother was Sarah Holt of the Holt family of Andover. Emerson and Minot ended up near Chicago, Illinois in 1840s and in Polk Co Iowa by 1850s. Emerson had remarried after his first wife died (Chloe Wright Baker died 1834 in Rodman, Jeff. Co., NY & she was also a Stoddard grandaughter)and Emerson had a son, George Baker 1845-1895 who developed Baker Wire (barb wire) and worked on Submarines until his death in 1895. Would love to hear from all that are related to this Baker Line. We go back to John Baker in 1630s near Topsfield and are related to Capens and Parson Capen House in Topsfield built in 1670s Kathy Jobe omjobe@att.net
