This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Baker, Lane, Dager Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JCC.2ACEB/8871.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Larry, You are right - ALL of these families have been VERY hard to track, especially because the German Baptists kept few to no records, and none that became "centralized" records (held in one place). I can tell you what I did to --literally --dig up before-unknown relationships. In Washington County PA, have you researched much on Deeds or Wills? I had to look at neighbors' deeds to find out the Lanes had 2 additional sons and a daughter we never knew. If you can, look at every Baker Deed. Then, take the neighbors listed in those deeds and find any deeds they had. You might find relationships or clues. How far is Knox Co OH from Carroll Co OH? How far is Knox Co OH from Ripley Co Indiana? I know Dagers moved to Carroll Co & Stark Co Ohio with my Joseph Lane. I know Brethren moved together -- even if they switched religions in the new State. Could you tell me some of the Ohio neighbors & connections you have seen to Ohio Bakers? I'm pretty familiar with West Bethlehem Twp & Amwell Twp (the Ten Mile area) families. Less familiar with East Beth though. I am getting very familiar with Brethren families there. I might be able to spot Washington PA families if I had the Knox Co names. Does Knox Co have a/an historical biography book/s? Anything on any of the families we've discussed. It will be write-ups on the adult grandkids of our ancestors -- there might be clues. I'd love to see any biographicals if anything exists. The Bakers are very convoluted. I understand there were English Bakers and German Bakers in Washington Co PA. We need to separate ours from the others. What were the naming patterns of the Baker families? Can you send me the names of kids for 2 or 3 Ohio Bakers that you think definitely tie in? I will *try* to locate my Baker records too and refresh my memory for what I have. For the Washington Co PA ones, did any have Wills or Probate Accounts? Who bought things at the sales? Maybe I'll recognize the names. I've been searching Lanes since 1984, and found 3 lines we hadn't known (we started with father & 1 son), then researched 3 of the 4 kids researched from 1805 to 1992. I moved though before I could work on Baker and other lines. I did get some basic info.... and knowledge of the area families. Again, do you need Census? I will look for anyone you need. Judy
