J. Ward Baker, 80, of Rt. 4, Carrollton, died April 12 in the Carroll Nursing Home near here after a lengthy illness. He was born August 13, 1886, in Palermo, a son of the late Alpheus and Laura (Scott) Baker, and was a life resident of Carroll County. Mr. Baker was a former employee of the Carrollton Mfg. Co. and a member of Carrollton First Methodist Church and the Men's Bible class. He was married August 30, 1911, to Pearle Dilley, who died June 11, 1965. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) Shepherd and Mrs. Elmer (Esther) Dillon, both of Rt. 1, Carrollton, and Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Reifsnyder of Canton, one son, Dean Baker of Alliance; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Edie of Bowerston; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Services were Saturday at the Allmon Funeral Home here with Revs. Richard C. Swogger and L. E. Barnett officiating. Burial was in Westview cemetery, in Carrollton.
