William L. BAKER was born November 23, 1823 Dickson Co, TN. His father was William BAKER and his mother was Myra Peace DUKE, born February 25, 1805, died February 18, 1824. His maternal grandfather's will (Robert Luke DUKE) leaves Wiliam land in Dickson Co, TN "..also one tract of land containing seenty five acres lying on the road from the mouth of the Harpeth to Charlotte.". Correspondence between William and his cousin (also a doctor) Robert Allen DUKE mentions William was "in Texas near the frontier practicing medicine" and that he had remarried. Another letter mentions he was in San Angelo, Texas - and at one time was a "druggiest at Fort Concho, TX. Does anyone know Dr. William L. BAKER? Floreda Duke Varick
