Florence was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 23, 1906, the daughter of Charles P. and Mary E. (Lawliss) Carpenter. She married Elric Baker at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh on Christmas Day in 1933. Mr. Baker died in 1972. Florence was a member of St. John’s Church and a long standing member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She graduated from St. John’s High School in 1914 and worked as a clerk at The Children's Shop in Plattsburgh, which was once located at the corner of Cornelia and Montcalm Streets, for over 30 years. Florence was a beloved mother and grandmother and is survived by three daughters, Gloria and her husband, Elio Bueno of Westerly, R.I., June and her husband, Dr. Ronald Armstrong of South Glens Falls and Elizabeth and her husband, Dr. Milton Olf of Clifton Park; two sons, James Baker and his wife, Barbara of South Glens Falls and Robert Baker and his wife, Carol of Brant Lake; ten loving grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Anthony and David Bueno, Monica, Di Iorio, Mark and Michael Armstrong, Lynn Armstrong Mulderry, Amy Baker Rees and Karen Baker; eight great-grand- children and one niece, Mary Stewart Stiles and her children. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh followed by burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
