Baker, 86, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Mrs. Baker was born on April 25, 1915, in Ellenburg, the daughter of Garfield and Alice (Moore) Colgan. Mrs. Baker retired from CVPH Medical Center as an Operating Room assistant. She was also a former member of the Pioneer Club, a former Republican County Committeewoman for the Town of Altona and a former 4-H leader for several years. Fern enjoyed arts and crafts and word puzzles. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Armond LeClair of Ellenburg Depot; a sister, Nina Nephew of Ellenburg Depot; a lifelong friend, Wallace Brooks, of Ellenburg Depot; two grandchildren, A. Stacey LeClair of Ellenburg Depot, Amanda and Terry Poupore of Churubusco; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Sierra and Dakota. Her husband, Gerald Baker, died before her in 1969, and a sister, Shirley Pickering and two brothers, Fay and Ross Colgan, died before her. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 1 to 3 at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot, with the funeral following at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
