Harriet A. Baker, aka Harriet Cole, aka Harriet Ann Baker. She was born in August 1829 in Havre de Grace, Maryland (MD); married fugitive slave William Baker (b. 1818) on October 25, 1845; moved to Columbia, Pennsylvania (PA); had 12 children; became ordained African Methodist Episcopal (AME) pastor and evangelist; preached at camp meetings and revivals throughout central Pennsylvania; ministered at churches in St. Clair and Pottsville; moved to Allentown; established the Bethel Mission or Gospel Union Mission; had a biography written about her by Rev. John H. Acornley, entitled "The Colored Lady Evangelist: Being the Life, Labors and Experiences of Mrs. Harriet A. Baker" (1892); died March 1913 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
