My grandmother was Martha Ella Edwards. Callie Edwards must have been my grandmothers sister as her sons were cousins to my mother, Callie Nora Jernigan. Callie Edwards married H. (Henry) Baker on July 23, 1885, Lampasas, Texas. Callie died in 1892 after giving birth to Joseph Monroe Baker. It is my understanding Joseph was raised by other members of the family and Richard and Jesse stayed with there father. My mother and I visited with either Richard or Jesse in Del Rio, Texas in May of 1958. My mother corresponded with the wife of the man we had visited. My mother died in 1965 in San Antonio, Texas. You will find an Edwards family listed in the 1870 census of Limestone County, Texas. Callie is listed on this record. So, I guess we are distant cousins.
