Author: ebaxte Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/15481/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for information on the ancestry of JOSEPH BAKER, born Mar 1856 in Boston; married a girl named Henrietta (surname unk) sometime in the late 1870s/early 1880s; had two children, William Joseph Baker b. Jan 1883, and Agnes A. Baker, b. Oct 1885. Died sometime between the 1920 and 1930 censuses. All events in or near Boston, Mass. He was a cabinetmaker by trade. I do know that Joseph's father was Joseph (possibly "J. Joseph") Baker, who was born abt 1825 in France and came to the USA and settled in Boston sometime before 1860. Joseph b. 1856 was their first child. Joseph's mother's name was Elizabeth, surname unknown. b. abt 1828 in France. I believe she died sometime between 1865 and 1870, in Boston, and am trying to find out when. The family (J. Joseph, Elizabeth, and four children: Joseph, Celestiane (?), Ferdinand, and Louis) appear in the 1860 Census in Boston, and also in the 1865 Massachusetts State Census with the addition of 2 children, Mary and Elizabeth. I am looking for information on this JOSEPH BAKER (b. 1856) because my great-great-grandmother is one of his sisters. Also trying to discover when his mother Elizabeth died. Does anyone recognize this JOSEPH BAKER and know anything of his ancestry (parents, grandparents, etc) including when his parents Joseph & Elizabeth came to the USA? Thanks so much!
