Author: ebaxte Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/15482/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for information on the ancestry of ALEXANDER BAKER, born July 1869 in Boston. He married a girl named Ellen G. (maiden name unk) sometime in the 1890s in Boston. They had ten children: Arthur J. Baker, b. Oct 1894 Helen Baker, b. Jan 1896 Gertrude Baker, b. Mar 1898 Joseph Francis Baker, b. May 1899 George William Baker, b. Sept 1900 Anna Baker, b. abt. 1903 Frederick Baker, b. abt. 1905 Charles Baker, b. abt. 1907 John Baker, b. Sept 1909 William Baker, b. abt. 1911 Alexander Baker and his family lived at 33 Belden St, Boston, during the 1920s and 1930s. I don't know when he died other than it was after the 1930 census. I do know that Alexander's father was Joseph (possibly "J. Joseph") Baker, who was born abt 1825 in France and came to the USA and settled in Boston sometime before 1860. I believe Alexander's mother's name was Magdalena (maiden name unknown; born in Germany) and that it was a second marriage for both her and Joseph. My great-great-grandmother was a child of Joseph's by his first wife, so ALEXANDER BAKER was her half-brother. I'm looking for any information on Alexander's father JOSEPH BAKER (b. 1825, d. between the 1880 and 1900 censuses) especially his immigration info and French ancestry info.
