The Capt. John Baker that the Bakers of Monroe Co. Ohio related to was buried along the river on the W.Va. side. There is a marker along the Hwy. about Bakers Station/Fort. He was killed by Indians in 1789? There is a John Whetzel buried next to him. I haven't found the spot, but a cousin says there is a red X marked on the RR tracks identifying the location. Sometime after the was of 1812 or Civil War one of his grandsons put a mounument to him in a cemetery in W.Va I have been there and there alot of Bakers in that Cemetery.
