Author: GEMauchmar Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/1410.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to the censuses, Peter Beagle (my ancestor) resided in Clarkson, Genesee, NY in 1820, where his daughter, Marinda "Roxa" Beagle (b.1804), married Godfrey Clair (in 1823). In 1830, he resided in Barre, Orleans, NY, and disappeared. Peter was born c1780-84, and appeared to have many female children. He may have had a son, Ira Beagle, who lived in the area of Monroe county. I, too, attempted to determine the origins of Stephen of Otisville, MI, but was unable to prove that he was Peter's brother, and the same Stephen of Wells twp, based on the existence of multiple Stephens appearing in one or more censuses (I'm writing this from memory, and none of my research is online.) I was, however, aware that the Stephen of Wells hailed from Coxsackie, as this was mentioned in a history of Hamilton county, I believe (again, this is from memory). I live in western Michigan, and the New York records leave much to be desired, making my Beagle research quite difficult. Btw, k! udos to Washington Craig. His pension record is amazing, and we're fortunate to have it. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
