Baker, age 91, of Zanesville, Ohio died at 8:45 am Monday, June 20, 2011 at Helen Purcell Home. He was born January 18, 1920 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late Walter W. and Rebecca Scoles Baker. Herman was a Funeral Director and former Secretary-Treasurer for DeLong & Baker Funeral Home. He had worked for funeral homes in Cleveland, Ohio and Columbus, OH and was a graduate of The Cleveland College of Embalming. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was the oldest living baptized member. He was a former member of the St. John's Church Council, President of the Brotherhood and usher. He was also a former member of Kiwanis, all Masonic Bodies, YMCA Board of Trustees, OFDA and NFDA. He was a graduate of Lash High School. He is survived by his wife Doris DeLong Baker whom he married October 2, 1941, sons William W.( Robin) Baker of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Rev. Mr. J. Bruce (Julie Anne) Baker of Port Chester, New York, granddaughter Sarah DeLong Baker of New York, New York, step grandchild Clifton (Christina) Kreig of Virginia, great step grandchildren Lukas and Noah. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be at Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, Ohio.
