Your Zipporah's older brother, Robert Baker Coles, is my 4g-grandfather. I did come across an intriguing clue recently, but haven't yet made sense of it.. Have you encountered any connection with the MORRELL family of North Hempstead, NY? The will of Ann MORRELL, widow of John MORRELL of North Hempstead, Queens, NY, was made 28 July 1816. Ann was John Morrell's 2nd wife (per his will, proved 1801). Ann names in her will, among others: Glori Anna Baker (dau of Robert Baker, dec'd), and Joseph Coles, Robert Coles Jur, & Zipporah Coles all ch'n of Robert Coles of City of New York. When her will was proved in April 1822, the named executors refused, and administration was granted to Joseph Coles (the Joseph named above, older brother of Zipporah and Robert). Joseph died later that same year and administration passed to his wife, Sarah. Robert and Zipporah and their families had moved to Ohio by this time, so Joseph was the only sibling remaining in the NY area, or at least the only one I'm aware of; the fact that Ann MORRELL only named these 3 also suggests they were the only (living) children of Robert Coles. What's interesting is the reference to Glori Anna BAKER and her dec'd father, Robert BAKER. Other than the marriage record for our Robert COLES and Ann BAKER, this is about the only record I've come across that in any way links the two families.
