    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: misha412 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/16124.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Figuring out the reasons for a dis-inheritance can be difficult. Sometimes, if you are lucky, the person making out the will would indicates their reasoning for doing it. But, many times, they do not. You might examine the probate records for Benjamin Baker to see if it indicates why one of his daughters was not included in the will. If that does not work, if there are any newspapers available in that area, they might mention something. But, it may remain a mystery. Good luck Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: frykhaven1 Surnames: Baker, Simmons, Hackathorn, Higginbotham, Pugh, Stearns Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/16124/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My ancestor Benjamin Baker (b. 1802, Monroe co. OH) made a will in 1874, living in Appanoose Co. Iowa, which named his three older daughters (Lucy Hackathorn, Sarah Higginbotham, and Dicinda Pugh), then "the heirs of Cynthia Simmons" and then his four stepsons, surname Stearns. In 1870, Cynthia and her husband Richard Simmons and thier two children are in the census as living with Benjamin and his wife (appanoose county, Iowa). In 1874, Benjamin made his will leaving Cynthia out. In 1875 the Simmons' daughter Edith was born in Kansas, and they are in Kansas for the 1880 census. Benjamin died in 1885. The executor of his will was Jacob Farnsworth, Benjamin's brother in law by Cynthia's mother. Looking for any more info or records to shed light on this.
