Katherine was my Great Aunt. I have been chasing the 8 siblings of my GGrandfather since 2000. I am sorry the find out that she passed away in l965, and being the last of her family, I did't get to ask her about our family. I have since been in touch with 2 third cousins from the family, and I would surely enjoy learning about the Baker/Muirhead connection. My email is tomhmuirhead@yahoo.com. Any information you could provide would certainly be appreciated. I will answer any questions that may help with your Tree. Thanks again. Author: FireRaven Surnames: BAKER Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/15774.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Very interesting! I am a descendant of Franklin BAKER, the youngest brother of the man you believe is your Alexander BAKER. Pam BAKER who also has a message above for you believes that her William "Alexander" is THE older brother of my Franklin. They cannot be the same man, obviously. What family history has led you to believe that your man is the son of William and Margaret BAKER from NY-WI? What documents do you have that give the parents or anything else on your man so we can help you get this sorted out? It will certainly help us unravel this too. We have Alexander on the 1850 Jefferson Co, WI census with Elizabeth, Almira and Franklin. It is possible that Alexander did serve in the civil war because Franklin served near the end of the war. I have the probate record for Franklin's father William A. which names the 5 kids. There was a younger sister Mary born after the census. Anxious to get to the bottom of the "Alexander BAKER" mystery. By 1850, the family was in Rochester, Andrew Co., MO. Known children were Charles (b ca 1847), Mary (b ca 1845), George W. (1852-1870) and Martha (1855-1932). Martha married Henry Baker who may have been her cousin. Her death certificate lists father as "Abasson Baker" and mother "_________ Vasstanburg"; each were born in NY. James Baker (1816-1882) was possibly brother to Absalom. James' wife was Mary A. (1820-1904). James, Mary, Absalom, Lydia as well as several other Bakers were buried at Rochester Cemetery near Helena, Missouri. I am trying to link my 4th gr grandmother, Lois McCurry, to these Bakers.
