I am seeking information about the family of William Baker, born 1842 in Stourbridge, who, by the 1901 Census was a successful Dental Surgeon working at home at 124 High Street, Stourbridge with his son Thomas Algernon Baker, born 1878 in Stourbridge, also a dental surgeon. Do you have any such information. My mother, Belle Wilkinson and father, James "Jim" C. Ward, each homsteaded in Baca Co. Belle Wilkinson started the post office south of Joy Coy called "Tuck" after her father. Her brother Carl Wilkinson worked in Deed's Hardware for years.

But my information on this family is limited, too. My great-grandfather John S. (I determined it was not L.since i posted the message) Baker is as far back as I can go. He was born in 1855, married Marry Jane Myatt, and died in 1893. Both of them are buried in the Red Bank Cemetery in Perry Co. TN. They had children named Oscar, Lula, Ida, Ethel, Willie (female), and Aslee. I do not know who his parents were. My email is Judycmcfarland@aol.com if you would like to contact me directly. Their son George W. Baker was my great-great grandfather. They were from Mass. George was born in Westport, MA and died in Fall River, MA, he is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Westport. Bristol is withing that same area. I do not have any info further back on Edward and Lydia as of yet.

He married Polly Fleming, daughter of William and Rithie (Mullins) Fleming. She died 1928. This family lived on Bold Camp, near Pound, Wise County, Virginia. Issue: i. John Wesley Mullins; died 1926; married Betty Moore. ii. Hark Mullins; died 1918; married Cora Killen. iii. Creed Mullins; died 1915; married Samantha Anderson. iv. Preston "One Eye" Mullins; married Mendy Mayes. v. Harlin Mullins; married Maggie Justice. vi. Hatfield Mullins; died 1928; married Mary Estep. vii. Ruth Mullins; died of clorea. viii. William Mullins; married Ethel Mullins. ix. Ruth Mullins; died Pike County, Kentucky, at age 15 of typhoid.

TN. He married a Martha Finch, also of Perry County. This is my "brick wall" in the Baker family tree. I have not been able to find one iota of information in Linden. The only info I have for sure was an interview after the Civil War of his son, James Baker of Bradley County, AR in which he states he and his parents were originally from Perry County, TN. I do a lot of look-ups for Bradley County, AR but this is the first time I have asked for info for my own use. Thanks, Baker Peebles

As far as the James Baker connection in Georgia, I have always felt that they knew something because the man has the exact same name as my Father and Great Grandfather, James Sanford Baker, but they will not give up anything. They were born in Clay and Columbus Mississippi. Their Parents were, William H. or C. Baker & Mary Castleberry-Baker. The girls names are as follows in order of age. Ida May Baker DOB April 13 1883, Susie Baker DOB Jan. 23, 1887 and then the twins are Florelle and Florence Baker DOB August 15, 1889. These girls were placed into the Natchez Orphanage Asylum when their parents & grandmother passed away. I do have some information on the twins, being that Florelle was my grandma. We have also found information on her twin sister Florence. But we have not found much of anything to nothing on the 2 older sisters as of yet. We would love you receive any information that anyone might have on any of the members of this family. The Grandmother's name was simply found as; Mrs C.H. Thomas of Columbus, Mississippi. I want to thank any & all that help us in finding more information on our Mississippi Family!! They are listed as! White in the cenus but, we have been told of other heritages, we just do not know for sure nor does it matter to us.
