    1. BAKER families in early GIBSON CO., TN
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JCC.2ACEB/8732 Message Board Post: Is anyone out there researching BAKERS from Gibson County? I have a Josiah BAKER that was in Gibson County, where he married Mary J. FORRESTER Dec. 2, 1834. This BAKER family was then in Gibson County until sometime between 1850 and 1860 (probably not long after 1850). I'm not too sure where they were on the 1860 Census, but they show up in Greene Co., Arkansas in 1870. That's where they stayed until their deaths. Mary J. FORRESTER was the daughter of Mark Forrester, but I'm trying to figure out who the parents of Josiah BAKER were. He's turned into a brick wall. Later census records state that he was born in Kentucky and his birth would have been about 1814/1815. I've found nothing to indicate where in Kentucky he may have originated. Since Josiah BAKER and Mary J. FORRESTER married in 1834, I've checked the 1830 Census to see what BAKERS may have been living there. I find only 5 BAKER households in 1830 Gibson County. Of those, only a Samuel BAKER has a male in the household that fits Josiah's age range, but because of Samuel's age I'm not sure it could be his son. So, if anyone is familiar with any of these early Gibson County BAKERs, I'd sure appreciate any help I might get. Particularly, if you know of any that may have come from Kentucky. Thanks, Randall Baker

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Baker, Reed, Brecht Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JCC.2ACEB/8731 Message Board Post: I am a descendant of Isaac Reed and wife Margaret (Baker?). I'm interested in hearing from other researchers or those researching their families. So much information online seems to be wrong and has little or no documentation provided. Isaac may be the son Elias Reed mentioned in "A Biographical History of Lancaster County", published 1879, p. 474. Isaac Reed is listed in the 1806, 1807, 1809 & 1810 Clermont Co., Ohio tax lists. Margaret Reed was living with daughter Margaret Arthur in the 1850 census and died shortly after. She is buried at the Reed Cemetery in Tate Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio according to the Tate cemetery book. I have her husband Isaac Reed's estate papers and some guardianship papers. According to the Tate cemetery book Isaac's tombstone says he was a Revolutionary War soldier. Is that original to the stone or added by a descendant or DAR? Any proof of their marriage? It is not listed in Pennsylvania Archives Series. I'll be happy to share my information on Arthurs and Reeds. Does anyone have proof that Margaret was a daughter of Jacob Baker and Anna Maria Brecht? I see a lot of conflicting information. I have also read about the Baker hoax. Jacob Baker and Anna Maria Brecht are listed in the DAR Patriot Index but I have little faith in DAR information. Any proof of the parentage of Jacob Baker and Anna Maria Brecht? I found a baptism record for an Anna Marie Brecht in "Pennsylvania Births, Berks County, 1710-1780", p. 41, by John T. Humphrey. Baptism was March 1, 1745 (not 1740 as online info indicates, but could be a mistake) at Bern Reformed Church, Bern Twp., Berks Co. Parents are listed as Stephan Brecht and Pragtzeden. Also an Elisabeth, daughter of Stephan Brecht and Traxete was baptised there May 1738. Maria Magdalene was baptised November 22, 1743 at Hedelbert Moravian Church, Heidelbert Twp. She was the daughter of Stephen Brecht and Elisabeth. Pennsylvania Archives Series 3, volume 24, p. 357 shows Stephen Brecht land record of 100 acres dated January 9, 1737 in Lancaster Co. Thanks.
