Well, Since Kentucky didn't come into its own as a state, it wasn't until the 1820 census that these Bakers listed below are shown as living in Fayette, KY, although they could have been living within that area before 1820. Perhaps the genealogical, historical societies would assist you. I am on the two Kentucky genealogical lists and that University of Kentucky really has their stuff together historically and although it wasn't until 1911 when records were required to be recorded, there are societies with very helpful information. David Baker Not Stated,Fayette,KY 1820 Name: David Baker Township: Not Stated County: Fayette State: Kentucky Year: 1820 Roll: M33_17 Page: 101 Image Number: 109 Household: 1-2-1-0-0-0-0-1 5-2-3-0-5-0-3-1 This census taker placed too many numbers within the required slots....I don't think this Baker is the one you need, although he might be related, as well as the second Baker list below. Six columns for free males and Six colums for free females were provided, and it's beyond me how this census taker got so many numbers involved!! Jehue Baker Not Stated,Fayette,KY 1820 Name: Jehue Baker Township: Not Stated County: Fayette State: Kentucky Year: 1820 Roll: M33_17 Page: 65 Image Number: 77 Household: 0-2-0-1-1-0 2-1-0-0-0-2 John Baker Not Stated,Fayette,KY 1820 Name: John Baker Township: Not Stated County: Fayette State: Kentucky Year: 1820 Roll: M33_17 Page: 67 Household: 1-0-0-1-0-1 0-0-0-0-0-0 Apparently, there were no free females within this house by 1820. I'd get on a Kentucy, Fayette County gene list and see what you can find out. There are documents available for those looking for ancestors who fought in the War of 1812, but to ask a good question as to where do I look, you have to know something and where to find the correct person to ask this question of and these gene lists are wonderful for this type of information!! I am currently naming the book "Climbing Family Trees-Whispers in the leaves" It's designed to be an inspiring book that includes a collection of true stories by people who have searched their family roots and discovered much more than names and dates. Their experiences testify that searching for our ancestors' records is much more than a passing hobby, and that there is something very spiritual about it that compels us to continue our quest. Some experiences could be called miraculous or coincidental, but the researcher feels a special unseen hand guiding his efforts. I wondered if you might have a story that you would like to share in this book.Of course, I can't guarantee that your story would be included in the final manuscript due to the Editor's discretion, but I would definitely include your name in the book if it does. You may have already written down some of your special experiences in your journal and find this an opportunity to finally the take the time to record those memories for your posterity. Please submit any stories to me by April 30, 2005. Thank you for considering this project. If you have any questions at all or would like to discuss your stories with me please feel free to e-mail me at: longforhome@cox.net Please feel free to share this letter with others who may be interested. He was married to Arlena Unknown. Can anyone help? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Doris Smith

(Near Watertown) NY in early 1800s. My Emerson Baker (their brother) was in Watertown area when his two children were born. His wife, Chloe Wright Baker, died in 1834 and is buried in Rodman. I believe that Chloe either had Wright uncles or her sister married Browns who were in area. My line was Emerson's son, Minot who was born 1828 Jefferson Co., NY and moved with his father and brother, and step mom, Dorcus (maybe maiden name Collins) to near Chicago 1840s and Polk Co, Iowa (near Des Moines) in 1850s. I am trying to search down info in Jefferson County, NY but so far am not having great deal of luck. Kathy Jobe omjobe@att.net

My Minot Emerson Baker was born around 1828/9 in Jefferson County, NY (near Watertown) He had a brother I think named Chauncy as best we can read census. He was born around 1831 in NY. Emerson Baker was their father (born in Sullivan,CheshireCo. NH (near Keene) in 1799 and Emerson's father was Jonathan Holt (1749-1834) of Topsfield/Andover, Essex Co, MA. that moved to Sullivan in 1777. Emerson's mother was Sarah Holt of the Holt family of Andover. Emerson and Minot ended up near Chicago, Illinois in 1840s and in Polk Co Iowa by 1850s. Emerson had remarried after his first wife died (Chloe Wright Baker died 1834 in Rodman, Jeff. Co., NY & she was also a Stoddard grandaughter)and Emerson had a son, George Baker 1845-1895 who developed Baker Wire (barb wire) and worked on Submarines until his death in 1895. Would love to hear from all that are related to this Baker Line. We go back to John Baker in 1630s near Topsfield and are related to Capens and Parson Capen House in Topsfield built in 1670s Kathy Jobe omjobe@att.net
