Dora Baker and Alvey James Reed are my great grandparents. They Bakers also married into the Hoak family which also came to Ohio, the same area. John Edwin Baker married Bertha Angeline Hoak. The only information I have is that my great-great grandfather, John Baker (born 20 Mar 1825, Tompkins Co., New York, died bef 1910 in Michigan) came to Michigan in 1855, and he did have a daughter named Jessie (but not your Jessie as she was born and raised in Michigan), so Jessie might be a family name. I have John's parents listed as a Christopher Baker and a Nancy Mary Osborn (last name might be spelled differently for her). I show Nancy (43) (the mother), Freeman (22) and Benjamin (19) (John's brothers), and an Ann Belle Baker (8) living in Catharine, Chemung, New York in the 1850 census. I don't have any information on Benjamin or Ann Belle, but I do know that Nancy and Freeman came to Michigan some time later, at different times. I hope this helps. If you find out any other information on your Jessie, can you please let me know also just in case there might be a connection there. Maybe she is related through Benjamin, John's brother.???!!! Amy
