Surnames: Baker, Valence, Shorey, Zelley, Brine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JCC.2ACEB/9034 Message Board Post: The year was 1861, and William George BAKER could be found as a shoemaker's apprentice at age 18 in Weymouth, Dorset and in 1868 would marry on Elizabeth J. SHOREY. In 1861, he would be residing in the home of his parents Richard and Susan, and siblings Samuel, Alfred and Elizabeth Ann Baker. It appears that after the birth of William Richard BAKER, the family would move to Bournemouth. However, in 1875 he did take time to be a witness in the marriage of Elizabeth Ann BAKER & William J. S. ZELLEY at the Holy Trinity Church in Wemouth. Back in Bournemouth other children would be born such as Albert George BAKER. As time slipped by William would pass away about 1905 but his branch of the BAKER - VALENCE family would continue. There is a possibility that he would marry one Mabel Ann BRINE in 1903. Of various birth records from 1904 to 1906 likely children could be Mabel Irene and Albert William J. BAKER. Based on the census records of 1901 it is possible the 19 year old boot repairer Joseph BAKER might be connected??

The following TIP from one LIST Administrator seems like a good TIP to follow for all MAIL LISTS: Please remember to trim previous posts before sending a new message to the List. Digest subscribers will be receiving huge digests with multiple copies of the same message when you don't remove any of the post you are replying to. For those who don't know how to do this, SELECT all of the previous post and hit the DELETE key (or use right mouse click and select CUT or DELETE) before replying. If you desire, you can leave a portion of the post you are replying to so people will know what a response is about, but please cut down on the huge original message size and thus cut down on unnecessary duplication and volume. This will reduce the costs of memory and storage requirements of operating the LISTS. Thank you. Kathi Jones-Hudson JONES List Administrator BakerAncestors Member Jerry

I found them on each census thereafter in AR and OK. James was a confederate Vet and he homesteaded land in AR, but no mention of his fathers name. I did find one census stating that Mariah was a widow. I found her obit in a newspaper, but all that it said is that she died of dropsy and gave no relatives names. Thanks, John K Baker Elkins AR

My comments are that if I don't recognize the names or ain't got no relatives down in TX, I just won't open the email. I think this is quite simple and I wouldn't have written such a long dissertation to note my displeasure. I am an IT/OK BAKER who had Ancestors cross the red River but only for a short time. I give credit for the list and the effort put into publishing it. On a side note, I looked for my gggrandfather's grave in Murfreesboro AR And finally a 'grave counter' found it for me - it seems he was visiting His daughter when he died and in those times the weather and roads were so bad she buried him in HER cemetery. -----Original Message----- From: Jerry and Becky [mailto:jnbathens@bellsouth.net] Sent: Saturday, July 16, 2005 12:23 PM To: BAKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BAKER-L] Multiple Grave Marker Picture References Allen, Thanks for the link! I have visited various cemeteries and even your website many times. However, If someone has to search through your website to find a picture, why post dozens of single individual picture references as you have been doing? Simply post that many with this surname are buried at the cemetery and your cemetery website has pictures of the gravemarkers. Invite people interested in your geographical area to come and look. I think your many posts on dozens of mail lists with individual names on grave markers is a waste of effort and is spam to many people. I often get multiple surname lists each with dozens of your postings of individuals and that is all that is in the lists. This is spam to me and detracts from the meaningful info in the lists. If it is too much trouble to link to the individuals picture, don't bother posting the individual's name. Just think how much simpler that would be for you! Most researchers know they can look up cemeteries and find transcriptions and can do web searches for pictures of grave markers. Don't misunderstand me, it is great that you have many pictures of grave markers posted on your cemetery website and that is a very fine service! However, a single post once a month for each surname mail list giving your website features is sufficient! Leave out single individuals names OR list them all! But don't waste many folks time by multiple single listings of one name across dozens of surname mail lists everyday! It is simply too much spam and distracts from the more meaningful information on these various mail lists. I invite others who may agree or disagree to comment on this. In the Washington, CT Vital Records, Ezekiel BAKER & Molly CHITTENDEN were married on March 18, 1731. In the Wallingford, CT Vital Records, Molly CHITTENDEN was born to Joseph and Martha on March 18, 1731. In the Wallingford, CT Vital Records, Joseph CHITTENDEN was married to Martha COOK on Nov. 18, 1729. My assumption, until I find different, indicates that possibly Martha COOK, daughter of Henry and Experience (LYMAN) COOK, b: 1706 in Wallingford, CT is the wife and mother of my CHITTENDEN family group that I am investigating. My 5G-Grandfather, Moses CHITTENDEN, was born, about 1748, presumably to a Joseph CHITTENDEN, but there is controversy regarding the wife of Joseph, since there were two Joseph CHITTENDEN’s born at about the same time. I have not found actual proof of Vital Records for Moses with this proof of correct parentage, but believe because of other records that he does belong with this Joseph CHITTENDEN (born about 1709), son of Joseph & Mehitabel (PIERCE) CHITTENDEN. Moses would then be the brother of said Molly, married to Ezekiel BAKER., and also had a daughter that he named Molly. I has been indicated by Alvan TALCOTT, that this Joseph, b: 1709, was married to Patience STONE in one section of the “CHITTENDEN Family ~ William CHITTENDEN of Guilford, Conn. and His Descendants.” I have found vital records for Patience and Joseph CHITTENDEN as the parents of Joseph, Nathan, Lucy, and Ambrose, in Guilford, CT. (This Joseph, b: abt 1702, being the son of Joseph and Mary [KIMBERLY] CHITTENDEN.) Has anyone found any proof of Molly's parents and family if you are familiar with these BAKER's / CHITTENDEN's? Thank-you!!!
