I have just discovered the death certificate of Heber M. Baker (1863-1918). He was born in Franklin Co., NC and died n Durham, Durham Co., NC. On the death certificate is listed his father as Harry Baker and his mother as Lizzie Berry. On the 1870 Fed. Census he is listed as living with Harry/Henry Baker and Harriet (his wife) along with several others including my grandfather, Lawrence Baker. We know that Harry was married several (at least three). Heber and Lawrence are only 1-2 years apart. However, we have not been able to find out who the mother of Lawrence is. Since finding this death certificate, we are wondering if Harry married Lizzie berry as his third wife and she is the birth mother of my Lawrence as well as Heber. We can find no record of a marriage for Harry Baker and Lizzie Berry in NC. If anyone knows of this union and their issue, PLEASE reply. Thank you, Anne

I never could find a Millie. But I think (can't prove) that Nicholas might have come from Madison County Kentucky. His brother in law Anderson VanWinkle was also found there and I believe they went to Boone County around the same time. Anderson married Lavinas sister Sarah. I did alot of work on Lavinas mother Hannah Harmon. If Millie was the mother of Nicholas she might have married and who knows where she went. I do believe Nicholas was tied to Edwin Baker somehow. He was also found in Madison County and moved to Boone County. His son George took out the bond for Nicholas and Lavinas marriage in Boone County. I wonder if this will be a mystery we will never solve. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
