Andrew Baker, etc., ARE NOT RELATED. This has been settled for several years now, since the first of the DNA tests were performed. The Baker DNA study shows just the opposite--that there is NO common ancestor between the "Gunsmith" Bakers and John Renta Baker, Rev. Andrew Baker, etc. (Not even close.) Nor are either of those families related to the Humphrey Baker family. Not sure where that notation came from, but it's not from our study. The Y DNA results show that all of the Bakers "Gunsmith Bakers" and John Renta Bakers Family all have a COMMON Ancestor. So they are related. Baker DNA Study notation: Quite a few descendants of Rev. Andrew Baker have taken the Y-Chromosome DNA test. Their results match one another (as expected) and also show that they are related to other Bakers. Their DNA group has been labeled the "Yellow Group" (arbitrary color codes used to distinguish each distinct family). Morris Baker, John Renta Baker, Robert Baker and other Baker lines also belong to this group showing they are all related with a common ancestor somewhere in the line. That common ancestor has not been determined. In fact, most of the Bakers that were in Ashe County fall into this "Yellow Group" though not every line has been tested yet. I am also a descendant of John Renta Baker, through his son Robert "Julius Bob" Baker and Elizabeth Hammond. My Andrew Burns married Nancy Ann Baker, Robert's daughter. Would it be to much to ask you if you could send me the document from 1889, I would love to have it. I just wish I could have known him. Do you know if John Renta was ever in Virginia? Also, I think the Baker's married into the McItnosh/DeWeese family, am I correct? If so, we are descendants of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor and King. You would surprised at the Queens and Kings we are descended from. All Q & K of England, Bavaria, Spain, Italy, and Russia. I have a very large document on the McIntosh/DeWeese Families. The man who did this document, spent years gathering documented evidence of the McIntosh/DeWeese Family. He did a great job of it. One of the people through them was one of Ferdinand's daughters married into the de'Medici Family of Italy. Please send the document, I haven't been able to find a tremendous amount of John Renta. Would love to have some stories about him, but I doubt they exist. If you would like to see the document I mentioned, let me know and I will email it to you. It is way too large to post here. Baker, d. 1918 in Durham, Durham Co., NC. It lists his father as Harry Baker and his mother as Lizzie Berry. I can find no marriage record for these parents. There was a Lizzie berry listed in the 1860 census living with John Berry in Orange Co., NC, age 20. This would put her about the right age and date for a marriage that would have taken place about that time. Heber was born abt. 1863/65. Does anyone have ANYTHING on these people? This could prove a birth mother to my grandfather who was Heber's brother. My grandfather was born 1861. The only proof that Heber and my grandfather were brothers is that they are listed in the household of Harry Baker and Harriet Baker in the 1870 Franklin Co., NC census. If I can find proof of the marriage above, it would have been between 1860-1865 as Harry Baker married Harriet in 1866. The births of heber and my grandfather, Lawrence, fall within those dates. Thank you in advance. Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
