His hometown (at the time anyway) was Houston Texas. He served in the Marines and was killed in S. Vietnam on June 6, 1968. I am a friend of the marine, Michael Sidoti who held him after he was shot and until the helicopter took him. Mr. Sidoti would like to talk with the relatives or would like to know where Allen is buried. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cgsheldon Surnames: baker, sheldon Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baker/15420/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I'm researching James Philip Baker and Isabel Sheldon of Cannock, Staffordshire, England. James Philip Baker is believed to have been born c.1867; his parents names are unknown. James' wife, Isabel, was born c.1864 in Cannock to Edward and Elizabeth Sheldon. Isabel Sheldon is listed as a Pupil Teacher in the 1881 Census; Isabel Baker is listed as an Assistant Teacher in the 1901 Census. It's not known for which schools she worked. James and Isabel were married in 1888, according to FreeBMD.org.uk. James and Isabel had at least five children, probably all born in Cannock: William Edward Baker (born c.1891, FamilySearch.org baptism record), Elizabeth Baker, Ethel Annie Baker (born c.1896, FamilySearch.org baptism record), James Henry Baker (born c.1899, FamilySearch.org baptism record), and John Baker. Isabel Baker nee Sheldon died c.1934 in Staffordshire, according to FreeBMD.org.uk. Any additional information on this family is welcome, Craig Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. More than 10 years in the making, setting out the synthesis of decades of genealogical research, Dr. Davenport's extensive history of the Davenport family that had its beginnings in the Pamunkey Neck region of Virginia chronicles the events -- great and small -- that shaped the family from before 1650 to well into the 19th century. In more than 2270 pages, The Pamunkey Davenport Papers reviews the available records and provides reasoned analysis to place the births, deaths, marriages and lives of the descendants of Davis Davenport of Pamunkey Neck in the context of their times. The land transactions, the court proceedings, the rising and falling fortunes of the individuals, their associations with other families of the day, and their migrations from the Pamunkey Neck ! area throughout Virginia and onward into North Carolina and elsewhere is carefully documented. To explain the Pamunkey Davenports requires explanation of the collateral and related families, and descendants of those families will find much of value in The Pamunkey Davenport Papers. Among the surnames prominent in The Pamunkey Davenport Papers are ARNOLD, BAKER, EVANS, GAMBILL, GLENN, GRAVES, SMITH, TERRY, WASH, WOODROOF, and WOODRUFF [and many more]. The Pamunkey Davenport Papers contains three volumes of The Further Chronicles of the Pamunkey Davenports, together with five annotated supplements covering subjects as wide-ranging as the DNA results that place some Pamunkey Davenports in limbo to the records and analysis that separate the Pamunkey Davenports from other Davenport lines of the times.
