    1. [BAGGS] Welcome to the Baggs Group
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. https://Groups.io/g/Baggs Welcome to Groups.io, our new home for genealogical discussions. This is an exciting time with a very impressive website and the opportunity to rekindle our communications and, perhaps, revive research that has been set aside for a time. Diane and I want to encourage you to make us of this group with your brick walls, successes, questions and whatever answers you may have for others' queries. To begin with, introductions are encouraged, including some history about yourself etc. If we can feel like a "family" we might get more out of being here. We definitely do not want to make this such a strict environment that you are discouraged from entering or starting discussions. If you on the Rootsweb list have not yet joined at groups.io, simply click on the link at top of this message and click "Join This Group." We want you to enjoy being a part of this group and to be glad you joined in the first place. If you have other group connections where you may spread the word about us that will be great as well. Looking forward to hearing from you all, Jim "Pops" Jackson and Diane Sowden

    1. [BAGGS] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [BAGGS] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

To date no Boggs has been tested. Generally, the Y-DNA37 is the most appropriate level of testing. 1. [BAGGS] Queen Irene Baggs; what is her husband's given name?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: sewbee2_1 Surnames: Baggs, Nickey, Kinnear Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baggs/165/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Queen Irene (maiden surname Nickey, earlier married surname Kinnear) was married to --?-- Baggs and lived in York, Pennsylvania at her death in July 1973. She was born on 4 Feb 1894 in York, Pennsylvania. Burial was at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 700 N. George Street, York, Pennsylvania. There are no other Baggs listed in this cemetery's burial name index. Several sources support that she was married to a Baggs at her death. They are: (1) Tombstone inscription that states Queen I Baggs, 1894, 1973. (2) U.S., Social Security Death Index, Name: Queen Baggs, SSN: 176-01-2189. I have not locate any other sources associated these two. The unknown Baggs may not be from York since Queen has lived on and off in Connecticut, New York and York during previous marriages. Any information on the this Baggs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Best wishes, Brad (Bradley Baer Nickey) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi, My grandfather was Frederick John Baggs, he came from England in 1907 sorry my notes are not here and could be 1909 and came to Halifax. He married my grandmother in 1911. He was a Sapper (in the Royal Engineers) When I found him on a passenger list coming to Canada there was another by the same name as my grandfather coming on a ship from Australia in 1931. I dismissed that finding as I knew he had emigrated from England years earlier. Now in family history I find he said in notes (not mine) that he had worked on the building of the Sydney Bridge in Sydney Australia. I have hunted through the archives on the building of the bridge and not found him. I have no idea if this story is true and since then have lost where I found the Australia passenger list. I have not had the time to reinvestigate the passenger lists and have no idea where I found his name as coming from Australia. Joseph David Baggs (B1863) was a brother of Gustavas Henry Baggs, your father (B1873). Joseph David Baggs was my great grandfather. I do have fair amount of information etc on this part of the 'Baggs" ancestry, all of which you are welcome to (probably around 80 people.) I think a better means of communication and supply of resoueces etc would be via email. To this end i have set up and email account jimawilliamsbaggs@hotmail.com This way you have the option of communicating via email if you wish. This does not conflict with any ancestry.co.uk guidelines etc. Hope to hear from you soon, Cheers Jim Williams Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
