I was just told that a relative may have served in the Franco Prussian war. The story goes that he was shot in the head, the family claimed he was dead but secretly sent him to America to avoid being sent back to the front lines. I have found Conrad Wickenhiser emigration on the Germany archives website. So my question is, where would you recommend I look for more information about this? Conrad was born in Sinsheim, Germany in 1850 and came to America in 1872. Thank you for any help! Nancy
