    3. Hello List, I have been requested to take the prisoner look-ups off list. Apparently, we have offended some people by cluttering the list with this ongoing thread. In the past I received requests for look-ups on both the list and my private email. This time, I neglected to include my private email in offering to do look-ups. My bad - - I apologize. I think the BW list is one of the finest lists I have seen and would not want to offend anyone; least of all our administrators who do such a fine job. Unfortunately, I thought that getting surnames out in the open would afford more opportunities to connect with long lost relatives. Perhaps, even knock down a brick wall or two and find that elusive, "Place of Birth" for an ancestor. We will loose those opportunities with all our surnames hidden away in private email boxes. That's sad ! So, in the future, I will continue to do look-ups for anyone that sends me a surname, BUT, only if they are sent to my private email. I will not respond to any requests for look-ups sent to the BW list, either past , present, or future. If I haven't answered your request as yet, please re-send it again to: [email protected] As before, the best requests have a single surname with several spelling variations, a given name, and any other information that may make the search easier. To the list administrators; if you find that the BW list is falling asleep, let me know and I'll be glad to liven it up again. To the complainers; I apologize to you but suggest you invest in a delete key. Marvin Hoerig

    3. Well this is an unfortunate turn of events. I was enjoying reading all the requests. I thought this was the reason that it was always emphasized to kept the subject line on target - so people who weren't interested could go down the list of incoming mail and delete, delete, delete. So now the rest of us get cheated out of the show that's playing behind closed doors? I'd like to thank Marvin for the service he so selflessly provides - for free, I might add, and respectfully ask the administrators to re-evaluate the policy. If all the requests and responses bother people, they can always unsubscribe for a week or so, and use the archives to see if they missed anything of import. But this policy means that none of us have any recourse to see what we are missing.
