Heinrich Appel was born 1839 and Charles Appel born about 1833/34 according to 1880 census Heidelberg, Germany The family was supposed to be land owners and came to the U.S. before 1854 because of the revolutionary war of 1848. I know nothing about their lives in Germany. Apparently, other family members joined them coming to the U.S. and my husband's family stayed in NYC area and other relatives went west, never found out what their names are or how many their were.
